What is Herbal Medicine Anyway and What's in it for Me?

When you think of herbal medicine, you might get a picture in your head of some old Chinese woman cooking her herbal potions somewhere deep in the woods. The fact of the matter is that herbal medicine has a very long history in all parts of the world and is becoming more and more accepted in the modern Western lifestyle.

The reason for this rising acceptance often is the expensive industry of chemical medicine combined with the awareness of people with their own health. A lot of chemical products have very nasty side effects and raise questions about the end results justifying the negative side effects.

People start wondering not only about the results of the medicine, but also about what the medicine is doing to your body. However, there are a lot of people who are still a little scared about the unknown and won’t take anything unless a proven educated doctor tells them to.

What these people easily oversee is that most of the chemical products are based on herbal ingredients with some chemical ingredients added to it. If you leave out the chemicals and look into the herbal parts you have a great natural product to heal your body without any chemicals whatsoever.

When you take a step back, have an open mind and look around, you will see that there are already a lot of natural products which you are using without even thinking about it. Water is a great example as it is the ultimate natural medicine. It is not the absolute solution for every problem, but it is an ingredient which always helps.

We use it every day for cooking or washing our bodies, but also to ease our thirst. What you might not see is that water is a great way to fight headaches. When you have a headache it could be a sign from your body telling you that you didn’t drink enough that day or that you need cleansing of something which has reached toxic proportions.

When our clothes are dirty, we don’t think about it, we just wash them and when we get up in the morning, we take a shower to clean the outside of our body. What we are forgetting in all this is that the inner body needs cleansing too.

Look at drinking water as a way of being your inside shower. When we eat, we get a lot of nutrition but also a lot of ingredients we don’t need and our bodies must get rid of them. The only way to do this is to drink a lot of water, go to the bathroom and gone it is.

This is just one example of the thousands of options mother nature has to offer. Your body is created by mother nature, so why not explore the options she has to offer whenever your body runs into some hard times. What better way to heal your body than in a natural, healthy way.
